Swansea City 1-3 Lorient: Swans end pre-season with defeat

Swansea City rounded off their pre-season schedule with a 3-1 defeat at home to Lorient at the Swansea.com Stadium.

A well-taken double from Pablo Pagis put Lorient in control of the contest, although Melker Widell should have perhaps restored parity at 1-0, blazing Swansea's best chance of the first half just wide.

Things went from bad to worse for the Swans as youngster Arthur Parker was penalised for a foul on Igor Silva inside the box.

Mohamed Bamba then made no mistake with the resulting spot kick on the stroke of half-time.

Swansea improved after the break, and won a penalty of their own just after the hour, with Ronald was tripped inside the box.

Liam Cullen then stepped up to smash home to give his side hope.

The Wales international thought he'd bagged a second after glancing Josh Key's cross into the net, only to be denied by the offside flag.

The Swans captain continues to be monitored following a calf problem picked up during the pre-season training camp in Spain, and it remains to be seen whether he will be fit for next weekend's curtain-raiser at Middlesbrough.

Zan Vipotnik also missed out after picking up a minor knock, but there were brief outings for Eom Jisung and Zeidane Inoussa following their recent injury concerns.

Swansea City: Vigouroux; Key, A.Parker, Burgess (C), Tymon; Franco, Fulton; Galbraith (Cooper 80); Ronald (Inoussa 65), Widell (Eom 65), Cullen (Wales 80)
