Sven-Goran Eriksson funeral: Updates and tributes as ex-England boss laid to rest

Giants from the world of football and loved ones are arriving in Torsby, Sweden for the funeral of Sven-Goran Eriksson following his death at the age of 76.

The Swede passed away on August 26 and tributes have poured in for the man who managed England for five years. He will have a New Orleans-style funeral procession with a brass band leading his coffin the 700 metres walk from Fryksande church to the Kollsberg homestead.

Funeral adviser Christopher Jansson says: "I think there will probably be as many standing outside the church as there will be inside. Sven was so popular."

Eriksson had endured a lengthy battle with cancer before he died last month. He confirmed in January this year that he had terminal pancreatic cancer, but continued to be vocal about his battle and desire to overcome his illness.

A documentary about Eriksson's life was broadcast by Amazon Prime shortly before he passed away, where the Swede delivered an emotional final message, declaring: "I had a good life. I think we are all scared of the day when we die, but life is about death as well. You have to learn to accept it for what it is."

Mirror Football will keep you up to date as the former England, Lazio and Manchester City boss is laid to rest with his family, ex-England captain David Beckham and more in Sweden to pay their respects.
