'Suspicious items' found at Didsbury flats before arrest made and homes evacuated

Homes in a block of flats in Didsbury have been evacuated following the discovery of 'suspicious items'.

Greater Manchester Police said officers were 'making enquiries' at Capitol Court on School Lane 'after a call about suspicious items at the property' on Saturday (June 28).

"Officers in attendance have located several bags containing substances which have been seized," a statement added .

"As a precaution, nearby occupants have left their properties temporarily. There is no wider threat to the public.

"A 32-year-old man has been arrested pending an assessment into the contents of the items discovered. He is in police custody.

The M.E.N understands searches at the property are ongoing, possibly even lasting into tomorrow, but that there is no scene or cordon in place.

Police have added that there is no wider risk to the public in this incident.

There was a significant police and fire service presence at Capital
