'Suspicious items' found at Didsbury flats before arrest made and homes evacuated

Homes in a block of flats in Didsbury have been evacuated following the discovery of 'suspicious items'.

Greater Manchester Police said officers were 'making enquiries' at Capitol Court on School Lane 'after a call about suspicious items at the property' on Saturday (June 28).

"Officers in attendance have located several bags containing substances which have been seized," a statement added .

"As a precaution, nearby occupants have left their properties temporarily. There is no wider threat to the public.

"A 32-year-old man has been arrested pending an assessment into the contents of the items discovered. He is in police custody.
