Susanna Reid fights back tears on Good Morning Britain amid heartbreaking statement

Susanna Reid was left fighting back tears on Good Morning Britain as she heard the latest news coming out of Nottingham. The presenter was back fronting the show with Richard Madeley in the studio when they joined reporter Richard Gaisford in the city.

It comes after a major incident was declared in Nottingham city centre on Tuesday (June 13) after three people were killed and three injured - including one who remains in a critical condition - in a spate of shocking early morning attacks.

Nottinghamshire Police said a 31-year-old man was tasered and arrested on suspicion of murder after two University of Nottingham students Barnaby Webber and Grace Kumar, both 19, were stabbed to death in Ilkeston Road at about 4am on Tuesday.

A man in his 50s was then found fatally knifed in Magdala Road before the suspect is believed to have stolen his van and driven at pedestrians in Milton Street. Three people were injured in the van attack, with one in a critical condition in hospital and two suffering minor injuries.

Nottinghamshire Police’s chief constable Kate Meynell told reporters the force was not looking for anyone else in connection with the incidents and no further arrests had been made. The police chief said the motive behind the attack was yet to be determined, but officers were keeping an "open mind" and working with counter-terror police.
