Supermarket launching own brand Pumpkin Spice Latte that’s cheaper than Starbucks - and it’s not Aldi or Lidl

September and October is well and truly Pumpkin season, with many rushing to their nearest coffee shop to pick up a ‘PSL’, otherwise known as a Pumpkin Spice Latte. However, with the current cost of living crisis, many may have to forego their luxury coffee on the way to work - but one supermarket has come up with a solution.

Asda is launching its own version of the iconic cosy season hot drink, which is said to be ‘less than a quarter of the cost’ of the coffee shop version. Starbucks’ PSL costs upwards of £3.65, depending on which size you get, while Asda’s will work out at 36p per cup.

Created to rival a high-street favourite, Asda customers will be able to recreate their favourite coffee at home without needing to queue at the coffee shop.

Available in stores and online from October 13, shoppers can purchase a 126g tub of the flavoured instant coffee powder for just £2.50. This will make around seven drinks for less than the price of one from the leading coffee chains in the UK. In fact, shoppers could make 10 Asda PSLs for the price of one small from Starbucks.

If coffee lovers were to buy one PSL per week as a Friday treat between now and Christmas, that would cost £47.45. It would cost Asda shoppers less than £5 to make 13 lattes, saving around £42 that can go towards Christmas shopping and essentials instead.
