Supercomputer predicts Man City's exact Champions League chances amid Erling Haaland form

Manchester City has been predicted as the current favourites to lift the UEFA Champions League this season, following a strong start to life in both the Premier League and European competitions thus far.

Top scorer Erling Haaland has added an extra dimension to Pep Guardiola's attack this season, already finding the net a staggering 17 times. With Danish side FC Copenhagen the next test for the Blues to manoeuvre around later this week, City will look to build on solid foundations built so far.

ABC News's Five Thirty Eight gives Guardiola's side a 22% chance of winning the competition this season, coming ahead of Bayern Munich and PSG to claim the top spot. Also given a 37% chance to reach the final, the Blues have of course only done so on one previous occasion, losing out to Chelsea in the 2021 final in Porto.

With 2020 winners Bayern given a shortly lesser chance of being crowned this year's champions with 20%, French powerhouse PSG come in third with a slightly lower percentile of 13%. The next English side on the list is Liverpool in 5th with just 7%, while both Tottenham and Chelsea have been given just a 2% of being declared Europe's best side this season.

It is no surprise that City have emerged as early contenders, given the sheer squad depth that the side can call upon if needed this season. Even with high-profile departures including Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko this summer, shrewd replacements have been brought in to help compete with the already competitive nature of the squad.
