Super Bowl: Scottish punter lands £400k from crazy NFL mega-bet
A Scottish punter has scooped an incredible £400k after placing an insane Super Bowl mega-bet.
The mystery winner placed a £20,000 double bet, assumed to be a wasted wager by many, in an East Kilbride bookies.
Predicting the winners of the two biggest American Football games of the year, the winner chose the Georgia Bulldogs to win the College National Championship and the Los Angeles Rams to emerge champions in the NFL’s Super Bowl.
The odds were seemingly stacked against them with 5/4 and 8/1 for each leg and many thought it was a very big gamble to place.
What makes the win even more astounding is that the bet was placed five months ago when both teams were only a couple of games into their season.
With seemingly little information to base the wager off, the Scot clearly had a sixth sense when it came to predicting the results.
The first part of the big win came on January 11th when the Georgia Bulldogs emerged victorious in the College finals.
However, the second part of the win was a little more nail-biting as the Rams sealed a spectacular comeback victory in the final two minutes of the game.
Their win came in the early hours of February 14th when they beat the Cincinnati Bengals. Both wins meant the lucky winner was able to claim, what a betting insider called:
“One of the biggest wins in Scotland of the last decade,” and their Monday morning was undeniably better than the rest of the countries as they cashed their big win.Whilst many were sceptical of the wager in the first case, it’s safe to say no one was expecting the result that ensued.
