Sunderland vs Cambridge United team news as Alex Neil makes three changes

Alex Neil made three changes to the side that started Sunderland's Easter Monday goalless draw at Plymouth Argyle. The Black Cats boss brought in Danny Batth in place of Dennis Cirkin, with Cirkin missing out entirely - presumably due to injury.

Lynden Gooch came in for Jack Clarke, with the latter dropping to the bench. The third change saw Neil bring Patrick Roberts into the side, with Jay Matete making way.

Alex Pritchard, Thorben Hoffmann, and Callum Doyle were included on the bench, with the former having returned from injury and the latter two from illness.

Cambridge boss Mark Bonner rested players for his side's midweek defeat at the hands of Charlton, but made seven changes at the Stadium of Light as he reverted to the same side that started last weekend's win against Wigan. Dimitar Mitov, George Williams, Paul Digby, Joe Ironside, Harvey Knibbs, James Brophy, and Adam May came into the side, replacing Will Mannion, Liam Bennett, Liam O'Neil, Wes Hoolahan, Shilow Tracey, Jack Lankester, and Ben Worman.
