Sunderland fans react with fury after 2-1 loss to Cheltenham Town

Sunderland fans have reacted with fury both in the ground and on social media after losing 2-1 to Cheltenham Town.

headed to Cheltenham with no manager and the automatic promotion spots looking increasingly distant, and the result did nothing to change things.

got things off to a promising start for the Black Cats, putting away a free-kick, but that was undone by goals from Elliott Bonds and Alfie May.

After it finished 2-1 to Cheltenham Town there was an angry reaction from travelling Sunderland fans, and there was similar a reaction on social media.

@Scookie555 tweeted: “I’ve been a season ticket holder for nearly 30 years, but the way I’m feeling tonight, and depending what happens in the next few days, I’m getting dangerously close to telling you lot to stick it.”

@mgs0970 said: “Tragic. Worst week in our history. Drastic action needed now.”

@GunnerSAFC1973 wrote: “Just when you think we can’t sink any lower… and they deserved to win. They wanted it more, gave more and played much better. I just can’t believe what is happening.”

@DavidDchips tweeted: “3 Defeats on the bounce. Changing Manager was clearly the wrong decision at the wrong time. It will be a hospital pass to whoever takes it on now.”

@Nath_Hewitt wrote: “Sacking a manager with no clear plan on how to or who to appoint next going into the biggest part of the season is abysmal, not to mention a decent number of fans didn’t want him gone and neither did the players if you believe rumours, after being backed over 2 windows, shambles.”

@SAFCSpencer said: “Announce Roy Keane. Otherwise it won’t be getting promoted you should be worrying about. You’ll be worrying about losing the fans. It’s starting to become embarrassing. Sort it out!”
