Sun eliminate Sky in Game 5 to advance to WNBA Finals
The Connecticut Sun advanced to the WNBA Finals with a 72-63 victory over the defending champion Chicago Sky in a winner-take-all Game 5 on Thursday.
On the brink of elimination after Game 3, the Sun won the final two games of the best-of-five series to set up a WNBA Finals matchup with the Las Vegas Aces.
The Aces advanced to the championship series by eliminating the Seattle Storm in the other semifinal.
Jonquel Jones scored 15 points and added 10 rebounds for the Sun in the victory, DeWanna Bonner also had 15 points and chipped in with nine rebounds.
Alyssa Thomas had 12 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists for the Sun, who avenged their semifinal loss to the Sky from last season's playoffs.
Kahleah Copper had 22 points to lead all scorers for the Sky in the losing cause.
