Stuart Pearce spots key moment that led to huge Nottingham Forest goal against Huddersfield

Nottingham Forest legend Stuart Pearce spotted the key moment that helped the Reds find a breakthrough in their Championship play-off showdown against Huddersfield.

The Reds took the lead before half-time through an own goal from Levi Colwill which has left Steve Cooper's side just 45 minutes away from a return to the Premier League.

Forest bossed possession for large spells in the opening 45 minutes with Ryan Yates going close to giving them a lead when he headed James Garner's free-kick wide of the post.

But the midfielder made a decisive contribution as he looked to get onto the end of a Garner shot that forced Colwill to slice into the top corner of his own net.

And Pearce noticed how Naby Sarr's decision-making in the hear of the defence had played a key role just moments before the Reds end erupted in glory.

"He's come out straight up the pitch instead of getting in line with the ball," he said. "As a central defender I always think you've got to get yourself in a position which if you draw a line between the ball and the goal, you've got to be in that line.

"He comes straight up the pitch and opens the channel up and you can see Sarr just stood there. He has no effect. All of a sudden the full-back is chasing back and you're in big trouble at that stage."
