Struggling Liverpool star told to suck it up and think of quadruple, but major summer decision predicted

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain must begin to appreciate the need for rotation in the Liverpool squad as they fight for a quadruple, one pundit has said.

The Reds have already lifted the Carabao Cup this season and are subsequently aiming to win the other three competitions on offer. Jurgen Klopp’s men reached the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday, where they will play Manchester City.

City and Liverpool also go head-to-head in the Premier League on April 10. A win for either side will go a long way in defining the title’s fate.

Meanwhile, the Reds face Benfica in the Champions League quarter-finals looking to progress.

As a result, Klopp has been keen to use his squad depth. He made seven changes for the trip to Nottingham, with midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain among brought in.

That was the 28-year-old’s first appearance in five matches and he lasted 63 minutes before coming off. And as his number came up, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s frustration at not staying on the pitch was clear.

According to former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell, though, the midfielder must realise that the Liverpool squad are in it together to win more silverware.

“Look, he is frustrated because he wants more game time,” Campbell told Football Insider.

“But there is only so much game time available when you have that much quality in your squad.

“It was great that Jurgen Klopp could shuffle his pack for the Forest game but it is difficult to get rhythm when you have not been playing. It was a tough game and there wasn’t much in it. The key was they got through.

“The Ox won’t be happy though because he wants to play every week. The way things are going he is not going to get much game time.

“It is something he needs to consider at the end of the season.”
