Striker on Nottingham Forest's transfer radar as 'balanced' investment planned

CEO Dane Murphy is confident "balanced and purposeful" investment will make Nottingham Forest an attractive proposition as they aim to "solidify" in the Premier League.

Having ended a 23-year absence from the top-flight with Sunday’s Wembley victory over Huddersfield Town, the Reds are now aiming to stay there. Owner Evangelos Marinakis has already ploughed millions into the club, and has said he will continue to splash the cash to back manager Steve Cooper.

It is not just in the dressing room where Forest want to strengthen, however. Murphy says the aim is to continue to "grow", and believes there will be no problem in retaining and recruiting the right people.

Nottingham Forest are understood to be considering a move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja following promotion to the Premier League.

Broja spent last season on loan at Southampton and enjoyed an excellent spell before tailing off in the final weeks off the campaign, scoring six goals and registering one assist in 32 appearances. The 20-year-old is a quick and powerful number nine who is highly rated at Stamford Bridge and has been linked with Everton and West Ham in recent days.

With four years left on his contract, Chelsea are unlikely to sell with Forest far more likely to push for a loan deal if they do move. The Reds will count on manager Steve Cooper's excellent reputation for developing young talent and will be able to point to the progress of Djed Spence and James Garner this season during their loan spells.

Forest are also ready to move for Wolves forward Morgan Gibbs-White, who excelled on loan in the Championship with Sheffield United.
