Strictly's Lewis Cope reveals live show 'mistake' in 'please no' admission

Strictly Come Dancing star Lewis Cope has revealed a ‘mistake’ in the BBC series' latest live show that left him saying ‘please no’.

The Emmerdale actor is currently competing on the 23rd series of Strictly with professional dancer Katya Jones, having joined the line-up as a late replacement for Game of Thrones star Kristian Nairn, who withdrew from the show due to illness.

Currently one of the favourites to lift the Glitterball Trophy, Lewis and Katya were back on the dancefloor on Saturday night (October 18) as they made it through to this weekend’s icons week.

Dancing the Foxtrot to L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole, the pair were given a score of 34 out of 40 points from the judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke.

Next dancing the Quickstep to Ring Of Fire by Johnny Cash, Lewis and Katya appeared on Thursday’s (October 23) edition of Strictly spin-off It Takes Two.

Asked by presenter Janette Manrara about how he found the Foxtrot, Lewis said: “It was alright actually, we worked on it quite a bit during the week.

“Although I was leading, you’re still very much dancing together. It was quite a nice song and dance to do that to. I enjoyed that.”

Katya added: “I think we’ve seen the fast-paced in his Jive, passionate lifts in his Waltz and then he was Zorro, the man behind the mask. That demonstrated what a versatile dancer he is.

“It was nice seeing from the judges, finally, what we’ve been working at over the weeks has been commented on. We did take a soft approach without losing the power in different way.

“For us, what’s really important is to allow the audience to feel what we’re experiencing. This time it was about the connection of the magic of stillness and suspense.”
