Stretch of M61 closed near Bolton after vehicle hits bridge
Drivers are facing delays on the M61 near Bolton after a vehicle struck a motorway bridge.
Traffic was held and on the M61 southbound between J2 and J1 M60 J15 (Swinton Interchange) following the collision between an HGV and a bridge, with drivers being urged to take an alternative route.
Two lanes have now reopened, with traffic moving slowly. The incident is expected to clear between 11 and 11:30pm tonight, according to National Highways.

Traffic officers are currently on the scene, with specialist engineers on the way. Two lanes remain closed for emergency repairs, according to online traffic reporting system Inrix.
