Stormers sign deal with promising English outside back: 'He fits our game model perfectly'

The Stormers on Thursday confirmed the signing of promising English utility back Ben Loader on a two-year deal.

The 24-year-old Loader, who can play fullback and wing, was looking for a new rugby home after London Irish became the third club in England last season to fall into administration.

Loader caught the eye of the Stormers coaches when he played for the London club in a Champions Cup encounter at Cape Town Stadium back in December.

Loader, who was on London Irish's books since 2018, was capped for England at Under-20 level but has yet to play Test rugby.

Stormers coach John Dobson said the 1.88m and 92kg back would be a great fit for the Stormers' style of rugby.

"Ben is a player with considerable natural ability, he has pace and power in abundance and fits our game model perfectly.

"We are looking forward to the impact he will have here, as we approach another demanding season," Dobson said.

Outside back Ben Loader has joined the DHL Stormers set-up.

Loader has already been training with his new team-mates in Cape Town.

"Having played at Cape Town Stadium before, I understand what this team can do and the incredible support they enjoy in what is a beautiful and vibrant city.

"I can't wait to get stuck in and become part of what is clearly something special in a renowned rugby city.

"The type of rugby that the Stormers play is something that really excites me and I'm really looking forward to connecting with my new teammates and coaches and taking my game
