Stokes in limbo with England star set for a knee scan after discomfort

Ben Stokes will have a scan on his knee after experiencing pain on the tour of the Caribbean.

England's vice-captain was not expected to bowl in the first Test of the 1-0 series defeat by West Indies, following a side strain in the Ashes, but ended up sending down 99 overs across the three matches, the most of any English pace bowler. 

Having opted out of this year's Indian Premier League, the 30-year-old intends to play County Championship cricket for Durham in the build-up to the home Test summer, which starts on June 2 against New Zealand at Lord's. 

However, he said on his podcast Round The Wicket: 'The knee problem I had in the Caribbean, I'm getting that scanned, so can't make any plans until we know what's going on.'
