Steven Gerrard issues Jacob Ramsey warning amid Aston Villa form

When Steven Gerrard first arrived at Aston Villa, many assumed he would have a positive impact on the midfielders already at the club.

However, although Jacob Ramsey's potential was obvious, not many predicted the rise he has displayed in recent months under the watchful eye of arguably the greatest midfielder the Premier League has ever seen.

Whilst playing for Gerrard, Ramsey has recorded four goals and one assist and contributed heavily across other areas of the pitch as well. At just 20-years of age, he is joint top goalscorer and leads the side in carries into the final third, therefore outlining the influence he has on this team at such a young age.

Steven Gerrard was quoted by the Daily Mail talking about his young star, where he stated: "He seems very calm and level-headed. It’s important the people in his private life help to keep him humble and grounded.

"He needs to make the right decisions and remain professional. To stay that consistent at the top level when all eyes are on you and people are talking about you, it’s important to stay humble, respectful and focus on your career.

"You need to make the right sacrifices as well to stay at the top. If Jacob does the right things, the future is extremely bright for him, but you can never get ahead of yourself.

"He knows he’s playing well, but he’s not getting carried away. He is working extremely hard, doing all his gym work.

"He is first on the training pitch and last off. He knows what he needs to do to stay at this level and stay consistent."
