Stephen Bradley: Hoops not in group stage to make up numbers
Stephen Bradley insists that Shamrock Rovers will be targeting progression from their group in the Europa Conference League after a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Ferencvaros on Thursday night.
The Hoops lost their Europa League play-off 4-1 on aggregate but the victory means they will be third seeds in the draw for today's third-tier group stages, where the financial rewards on offer include €500,000 for a win and €166,000 for a draw.
"We want to try to get out of the group," he told RTÉ Sport. "We're not going there just to make up numbers.
"You need the draw to help you obviously. But we're going there to win games."
Bradley was pleased with the improved display from his men at Tallaght Stadium.
"We just needed to be more aggressive in our positions and tonight we were," he said.
"Last week we gave them too much respect and when you come off the game against a team like that and give them space they hurt you. Our shape and transition was a lot better and we got our rewards.
"We know we were against a good side but we felt last week it wasn't a 4-0.
"To be fair to the players, they stepped up and won the game and kept this fantastic run going."
