State memorial service for Shane Warne to be held at MCG on March 30

The Victorian government has released details of the state memorial service to be held for cricketer Shane Warne, who died earlier this month.

Premier Daniel Andrews said the service, to be held at the MCG, would begin at 7pm on March 30.

Free tickets to the service will be available from 3pm on Tuesday.

The event will also be live streamed.

Warne died of a suspected heart attack in Thailand on March 4.

A private funeral for the cricket legend was held on Sunday in Melbourne.

Warne's three children, Jackson, Brooke and Summer, along with his parents, Keith and Brigette, were joined by about 80 guests to say their final goodbyes.

The gathering featured a who's who of the cricketing world, with retired Australian Test captains Mark Taylor, Allan Border and Michael Clarke attending along with former England skipper Michael Vaughan.

Bowling greats Merv Hughes and Glenn McGrath and long-time Warne teammates Mark Waugh and Ian Healy were also there.
