Starfield Delay: Developers Worried Game Could Be “Next Cyberpunk”

It was officially confirmed by Bethesda that Starfield would be pushed back to 2023 to allow the development team to further work on the game.

The reaction from RPG fans to the news has been mixed, with some happy that the Microsoft-owned company is at least taking the time to ensure that the game is as strong as it can be ahead of release.

However, according to a recent report, the game was arguably in a far worse shape than fans may have previously believed.

Bethesda confirmed the following in a statement sent out on social media on Thursday 12th May 2022:

“We’ve made the decision to delay the launches of Redfall and Starfield to the first half of 2023. The teams at Arkane Austin (Redfall) and Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) have incredible ambitions for their games, and we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them.

“We want to thank everyone for their excitement for Redfall and Starfield. That energy is a huge part of what inspires all of us every day and drives our own excitement for what we are creating.

“We can wait to share our first deep dive into the gameplay for both Redfall and Starfield soon. Thank you for your support.”

Industry insider Jason Schreier recently revealed that there are members of the team working on Starfield who were very concerned with the state of the game and the initial November 2022 release date.
