Stadium announcer blunder sums up size of Man City rout vs RB Leipzig

Manchester City advanced to the Champions League quarter-finals in some style on Tuesday as they hammered RB Leipzig 7-0 on a remarkable night at the Etihad.

Erling Haaland was the inevitable star of the show as he bagged an astonishing five goals to continue his obscene maiden season at City. Ilkay Gundogan also got in on the act while a back-to-his-best Kevin De Bruyne grabbed the best of the bunch with a sublime strike into the top corner.

It's easy to forget as it was so many goals ago but City's opener was certainly fortuitous. No one noticed the 'handball' as the ball ping-ponged around the penalty box but VAR intervened to punish Benjamin Henrichs. It didn't even look like the ball touched his hand but a penalty was given nevertheless.

That's the quickest the tally has ever been reached after it took previous record holder Ruud van Nistelrooy nine more games to do so.

Additionally, Haaland has also beaten out Kylian Mbappe to become the youngest player to achieve the feat after doing so at the age of 22y 236d compared to the Frenchman who did it at 22y 352d.
