Spurs urged to make decision that could end £18m star's season

Oliver Skipp should have an operation on his injury even if it rules him out for the remainder of the season, according to former Tottenham captain Graham Roberts.

The £18m-rated midfielder has been sidelined with a groin problem for almost two months and it’s still unclear when the youngster might return to action.

Skipp was enjoying a productive breakout campaign in Spurs’ first-team, but it’s quickly becoming overshadowed by his ongoing problem.

Initially, it was only seen as a minor problem, but Skipp has gone on to miss almost two months, with Conte admitting that it’s the first time he’s ever experienced a situation like this in his managerial career.

Skipp has missed more than 10 games in all competitions, which led to Conte questioning the medical team at Tottenham earlier this month.

“In England, I think that sometimes you should have a [press] conference with the medical department,” he said.

“It is too easy for the doctors to work here because they don’t speak, they don’t explain what happens, you understand? Sometimes I think that could be good, if, in two weeks to have a good press conference with the medical department to explain about the situation that they are trying to take care of their players.”

When the Tottenham boss was most recently quizzed about his availability and when he could be back on the grass, he simply said: “I don’t know”.

Skipp might be running out of time if he wants to play again this season, but Roberts has urged the club to operate on him to solve the problem once and for all, even if it does rule him out for the rest of the campaign.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “So, for me, get it done. If we don’t have him for the rest of the season, we don’t have him for the rest of the season.”
