Spurs should definitely join race for ‘world class’ playmaker who may leave for just £20.8m

Speaking to GiveMeSport, journalist Pete O’Rourke has made a Tottenham Hotspur claim involving Leeds United playmaker and Premier League star Raphinha.

As per recent reports, Spurs have had potential playmaker signings in their sights, with Man United attacker Jesse Lingard even having been looked at by the Lilywhites on deadline day.

This comes even after transfer chief Fabio Paratici signed Juventus ace Dejan Kulusevski, with the versatile winger adept at playing in the playmaker role when required.

As Leeds’ star man Raphinha becomes the subject of interest from many top clubs, O’Rourke has made a claim involving Spurs.

Speaking to GMS, he says Tottenham should ‘definitely’ be in the reckoning to sign the Brazilian if he becomes available.

He explained:

“If Raphinha is available and clubs think they can get him, Spurs should definitely be in the reckoning as well.”

The 25-year-old has been electric under Marcelo Bielsa again this season, currently topping Leeds’ charts as their highest goal-scorer and joint-top provider of assists (WhoScored).

It is little wonder Raphinha is attracting such interest, and despite his alleged €75 million release clause (£62.5m), recent reports suggest he could be more affordable for Spurs on one condition.

Indeed, FootballTransfers and journalist Gianluigi Longari claim this figure could drop to around €25 million (£20.8m) if the Whites are relegated – coming as a possible boost for Paratici.

Lauded ‘world class’ by ex-Lilywhite Paul Robinson, we believe Tottenham should certainly swoop if Bielsa’s side drop down to the Championship.
