Spotlight on 'unpredictable' young Danish talent Will Osula following Sheffield United debut

Paul Heckingbottom handed another first team debut to one of the club's promising academy players. Young Danish international Will Osula came off the bench late on in the goalless draw at Blackpool last night.

The 18-year-old powerful forward has been impressing in the under 23s, scoring 12 goals last season as part of their title-winning campaign. Among the highlights of that season was a nine-minute hat-trick as United sealed their place in the Professional Development League national final with a 4-0 win over Ipswich.

He began his career in Denmark with Copenhagen, but joined Sheffield United in 2018. He has always been highly regarded by the club's coaching staff and both Heckingbottom and Jack Lester are particularly excited by his future. However, it's not the first time he has featured in a first team squad.

He was an unused sub against Burnley in the final home game of last season in the Premier League, and also against Wolves in the FA Cup this season. His form with United also alerted Denmark under 19s, who rewarded him with a call-up during the last international window and Heckingbottom was hoping that would also alert the English FA.

Described as a 'fantastic young talent', Heckingbottom recently admitted he 'thinks the world of him' and is a player with 'so much potential'. He is now starting to emerge slightly later than originally expected having battled growth-related injuries and illnesses for three years.
