Spinningfield’s cosy ‘winter hideaway’ set to return for its 10th year

The giant ‘winter hideaway’ tent at Spinningfields favourite The Oast House is set to return for its 10th year. The Curious Teepee, as it’s known, is being erected for the winter season, and will open next week.

It’s made up of three tents joined together with a central bar area, cosy corners, an outdoor terrace area and three fire pits. During the week, there will be live music and entertainment too.

Food-wise, there’s plenty to warm the cockles as the evenings draw in. It will be launching a range of ‘loaded pies’, which come both filled and topped.

Options will include the chicken madras, topped with pilau mash, onion bhaji, mint raita, mango chutney and toasted almonds, a Steak and Ale, which comes with roast mushroom, roast tomato, onion ring and peppercorn sauce or a pulled pork and apple, with wholegrain mustard mash, Henderson’s gravy, piccalilli and a Bury black pudding scotch egg.

There will also be Yorkshire pudding wraps stuffed with roast beef, chicken or vegetarian meatballs, while the bar will be serving up new seasonal cocktails and other ‘festive tipples’, as well as mulled wine and hot chocolate.

The teepee is mostly walk-in based only, but a few tables each day will be made available to book for larger groups. It all kicks off from October 7 at 5pm.

It follows news that the city’s Christmas Markets will return from November 10, with more details to follow in the coming weeks.
