Spartans retains Showtime Bowl Series XI crown
The Spartans claimed their second title in a row, defeating the Warriors to claim the N6million grand prize at the 2024 Showtime Bowl Series XI.With 12 teams in the mix, the season was packed with surprises.
The Rebels and Outlaws made the top four, taking home ₦2.5million each, which was part of the record ₦20 million prize pool.
League Commissioner Adejumo Adebare said: “Season XI was not just about the competition. It is about everything that comes with it: teamwork, growth, and the rise of flag football in Africa. This year was special, but the best part is still ahead of us.”
Showtime Flag Football League fans have turned the Arena into a weekly battleground, hoping to get something bigger. The finale was a spectacle.
After the Spartans lifted their second trophy, Nigerian music legend Rudeboy, closed the night with a concert that was perfect end to a season that combined sports and entertainment.
Apart from the first to fourth place winners, the fifth to eighth positions teams, including Mavericks, LA Knights, Titans and Raptors got N1 million each.
The Hawks, who came out as the ninth best team got N400,000; 10th-placed Panthers took N300,000; Wolverines got N200,000 for ending in the 11th position, while their 12th position fetched Off-szn Athletics the sum of N100,000.
