Southern Counties East round-up as Faversham Town win 8-0 and Deal Town, Welling Town and Lordswood all are victorious in the Premier Division

Clinical Faversham closed the gap on frontrunners Glebe to a point at the Southern Counties East Premier Division summit on Saturday - with an 8-0 win over second-bottom Stansfeld!

Sammy Moore’s Lilywhites had endured a tough 11 days, which saw Lydd complete the double over them this season with a 4-2 victory at Salters Lane last Tuesday before they saw two scheduled matches postponed last week.

But Town got back on track in fine fashion.

The division’s top scorer Stefan Payne got yet another brace, one a penalty, while defender Matt Newman was also at the double. Their other goals in front of a crowd of 257 came from right-back Josh Vincent, midfielder Sam Hasler, captain Connor Essam and substitute Jefferson Aibangbee while on-loan Folkestone player Jordan Ababio made his Faversham debut.

Glebe are just ahead of Faversham - but have played two league matches more - after they lost 3-1 to resurgent Deal Town.

Steve King’s Hoops held a 1-0 half-time lead as Rory Smith won a penalty which was converted by fellow frontman Aaron Millbank.
