Southern Counties East Premier Division title chasers Sheppey United host Hollands & Blair a week after beating them in the final if the Kent Senior Trophy

Sheppey United won the Kent Senior Trophy for the second time this season on Sunday and now all eyes are back on the main prize.

Promotion from the Southern Counties East Premier Division is already secure but the title is still up for grabs. The Ites are in pole position, with three games to go, and manager Ernie Batten thinks they will need to win all three.

The biggest challenge on paper looks set to be this Saturday when they host Hollands & Blair - a side they beat 2-1 on Sunday to win the Trophy.

Following that, the Ites travel to K Sports on Monday and finish their league campaign at home to bottom side Tower Hamlets on Saturday, April 23.

Batten is prepared for a wounded Blair side to come to Holm Park and spoil the party.

The Sheppey boss said: “Chatham (two points behind in second) have three left as well. I believe they can win their last three and so can we, I think we will need to do that so nothing less than nine points will see us home.

“It is possible we could do it, it is still going to take a massive effort, because obviously we have Blair to play. Our pitch is a bit bigger than Maidstone (which hosted Sunday’s final) width-wise, so that will help us I believe, to open up a bit more space.

“Psychologically you never know how it will go, if you win the game does that set you up with a bit more confidence, if the opposition lose a game do they have a bit more determination to try and spoil your party? It will be revealed on Saturday which way it goes.”

Sheppey finish the season with a Challenge Cup final to play and a potential quadruple is still possible. A two-legged semi-final win over Sutton Athletic was completed last Wednesday with a 5-2 win on the night, 7-3 on aggregate. They play Crowborough
