Southern Counties East League round-up: Snodland Town win Division 1 title, Premier Division leaders Erith & Belvedere extend lead

Snodland Town won the Division 1 title in front of a bumper crowd at Potyns Sportsground on Saturday.

Needing just a point to secure top spot, Snodland emphatically brushed aside Meridian to run out 4-0 winners.

Striker Rob Denness put them ahead on 13 minutes and Josh Jackson nipped in to add a second four minutes later.

Snodland hit the bar early in the second half before Denness slid home a third and Byron Walker rounded off the tally with six minutes left.

A crowd of 575, boosted by the club’s offer of free entry, then saw the team presented with their winners’ medals and trophy by league chair Denise Richmond.

The jostling for play-off positions continued below Snodland with Tooting Bec winning 3-0 at Larkfield - who dropped from second to fourth - to move above them in the table.

All the goals came in the second half through Nathaniel Olawole, Steve Karkari and Alvin Turyatemba.

Lydd are up to second after a 7-1 win over lowly SC Thamesmead, scoring three spot-kicks in their success.

Luke Burdon scored a 30-minute hat-trick in the first half, including a penalty, with Timmy Babington and Troy Howard also netting to put their team 5-0 up at the break.

Penalties from Richard Atkins and Tyler Sterling added to their tally in the second half with Charlie Armstrong bagging a late consolation.

Rochester occupy the last play-off spot with two games to play following a 3-2 success at Bridon Ropes. Levi Gold, Liam Wilkins and Luis Dos Santos scored their goals.

Faversham Strike Force are a point adrift in sixth spot following a 2-0 win at Lewisham.

In the Premier Division, Erith & Belvedere extended their lead at the top to six points with four games to play. The Deres won 3-0 at home to Bearsted thanks to Lewis Chambers,
