Southern Counties East League round-up: Larkfield & New Hythe beat leaders Fisher, wins for Kennington, Bearsted, Phoenix Sports and Rusthall
Larkfield & New Hythe ended their long wait for a league win to stun the leaders on Saturday.
The Larks won their first two Premier Division games of the campaign under manager Tony Reid but then went eight matches without a victory before defeating Fisher 2-1 at home.
Former AFC Greenwich Borough forward Oghosa Williams’ first goal for the club since joining from Margate put them and Lauris Chin added a second after the break before Donald Macaulay pulled one back for Fisher with 17 minutes left.
Second-placed Hollands & Blair were held to a 1-1 draw at Petts Wood & Holmesdale.
Charlie Weston put Blair ahead in first-half stoppage-time but Petts Wood levelled through Mo Diaby early in the second half.
Kennington enjoyed a 2-0 home win over Beckenham, despite playing the final quarter of the game with 10 men.
Elliott Moore put Ton ahead on 10 minutes and Tom Scorer added a second on 56 minutes. However, the hosts had Joe Fisher sent off for two bookings midway through the second half.
Sam Stace scored the only goal of the game on the hour mark as Bearsted edged AFC Greenwich Borough.
In-form Phoenix Sports made it four league wins in a row with a 5-1 success at Tunbridge Wells.
Jamarie Brissett scored a hat-trick after Lyle Della-Verde and Isaac Hadlow establiedh a two-goal lead inside 18 minutes. Jack Gallagher netted for the home side early in the second half.
Rusthall had to wait until the final five minutes of the first half before making the breakthrough against Erith & Belvedere.
Goals from Robbie Bissett and Lakan Osideko put them in charge at the break and Yassin Fares and the returning Charlie Clover both came off the bench to complete a 4-0 win, before the Deres had Stefan Wright sent off late on.
