Southampton: Hasenhuttl 'might be interested' in bringing £35m star to St Mary's

Southampton “might be interested” in bringing Liverpool’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to St Mary’s this summer, claims journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 28-year-old is currently being linked with a move away from Anfield, and O’Rourke thinks his former club could become an option for him.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool will listen to offers for Oxlade-Chamberlain, who will be out of contract next year.

The England international, capable of playing in both midfield and out wide, was barely used by Jurgen Klopp in the 2021/22 season.

In total, he made just nine starts in the Premier League under the German manager.

Aston Villa and West Ham are both thought to be admirers of Oxlade-Chamberlain, so they could become options for him in the upcoming transfer window.

O’Rourke thinks Southampton could also be a possible destination for Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer, while he also has not ruled out a move abroad for the Saints academy product.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “His time at Anfield has been interrupted by injuries at key points, when it looked like he was establishing himself in Jurgen Klopp’s side. But he’s still a top player.

“Maybe teams like Southampton, his old club, might be interested in him, and I’m sure there might even be interest from abroad as well because he’s still got a good CV.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain could bring a lot to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side. As mentioned earlier, he is a very versatile player, while his experience in the Premier League also makes him an attractive proposition.
