East Bengal, Emami Group close to reaching an agreement

Club officials and representatives from the investor met on Wednesday over drawing up the agreement and both parties were understood to have arrived at a consensus over some contentious points in it. Confirming the development, a statement from the investor said that legal teams of both parties are now preparing the final draft of the agreement, two months after chief minister Mamata Banerjee announced Emami Group as the new investor for the city club. James Anderson stunned by 'fearless' England transformation

James Anderson thought he had seen it all over the course of an England career spanning nearly two decades but the Test team's transformation under new coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes has caught the veteran seamer by surprise. Anderson, who has played a record 171 Tests since his debut in 2003, said they had created a totally different vibe among the squad.

Wimbledon: Novak Djokovic cruises, Ugo Humbert upsets Casper Ruud, Anett Konteveit and local hope Emma Raducanu beaten

Novak Djokovic thanked the Centre Crowd after his second-round win over Aussie Thanasi Kokkinakis on Wednesday. “Thanks for supporting both players,” he said, driving home a point not for the first time in these championships. A little after his 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 win, a fan shouted, ‘I love you, Novak’. The six-time champion, in the midst of his on-court interview, was quick to respond, ‘I love you too’. The 35-year-old, who refused to let the Kokkinakis serve call the shots, drilling returns deep into the court, had 29 winners on the day. The Serb, who has become the focal point of the popularity debate which questions fan behaviour across the tennis world, has also been saying his piece.

India vs England 2022: How things have changed for India and England since the unfinished tour from last year

Both India and England have a new captain. Both have a new coach. Both teams have lost their vice-captain (Jos Buttler for England, Ajinkya Rahane for India). In fact, if vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah captains the team in place of the covid-hit Rohit Sharma, as reports indicate, India would have had four Test captains this year after KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Rohit. The England that India and Bumrah left shattered at a sun-kissed Oval, have enjoyed a resurrection with new skipper Ben Stokes and the attack-at-all-costs approach practised and preached by coach Brendon McCullum.
