India vs West Indies 2022, 2nd ODI: Hope to score a century in the next game, says Shreyas Iyer after India's win

West Indies in the second ODI, India batter Shreyas Iyer said that he is hopeful of scoring a century in the next game. Chasing a mammoth 312 to win, half-centuries from Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson and Axar Patel helped India win the second ODI of the three-match series against West Indies by two wickets at the Queens Park Oval stadium in Port of Spain on Sunday. Shreyas scored 63 runs off 71 balls before he got out LBW to Alzarri Joseph. "I was really happy with the score I got today, but really unhappy with the way I was dismissed. I thought I could have taken the team through easily but very unfortunate with the wicket. Hopefully, I score a century in the next game," said Shreyas in a post-match press conference. India have now taken a winning 2-0 lead in the series. Struggling at 79/3, a 99-run stand between Shreyas and Samson (54) provided stability to the visitors' innings.

Once an aspiring fast bowler, Grenadian is new 90m starNeeraj Chopra and Anderson Peters have one thing in common - both took to javelin for fun. Grenadian Anderson, hailing from a country with a population of 1.13 lakh, picked up the javelin in school at the age of 10 more as an extension of his childhood hobby of hurling stones at mangoes and apples hanging high on trees and later throwing cricket balls. He would become only the second athlete in javelin history to win back-to-back Worlds titles after Czech great Jan Železný.

CWG 2022: Will rest and reset work for Lovlina Borgohain?

Olympic bronze winner keen to put behind World Championships setback"You learn more from a defeat than a victory," were Tokyo bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain's words after her shocking pre-quarterfinal exit from the World Boxing Championships in May, her first major tournament in 278 days post her heroics in the Olympic Games. Away from the ring for more than nine months, fulfilling sponsorship commitments and attending innumerable felicitation events, Lovlina, by her own admission wasn't mentally strong and was unable to handle match pressure at the Worlds in Turkey. The lanky Assamese pugilist did manage to cross the first hurdle by beating her old nemesis, former world champion Nien-Chin Chen of the Chinese Taipei by a split decision verdict, before going down 1-4 to Cindy Ngamba of the Fair Chance Team in the next round, to bring the curtains down on her maiden campaign in the 70kg class.
