Meditation helps overcome stress: PV Sindhu

Badminton star PV Sindhu said on Sunday that she has been practicing mediation for a long time as it helps overcome stress. "I have been practicing meditation for a long time and always felt a relief as I connected very well within through meditation," she said while virtually participating in the concluding session of the International Rising With Kindness Youth Summit. The three-day youth summit organised by Heartfulness came to an end on Sunday at Kanha Shanti Vanam, the headquarters of Heartfulness in the outskirts of Hyderabad. "Meditation helps stress go off. I wish the youth don't forget to take to meditation," said Sindhu in her first public appearance after winning the gold medal at the recent Commonwealth Games 2022. She announced on Saturday that she was out of the world championships for the next few weeks due to a stress fracture.

Rahul Dravid - India vs Zimbabwe: With KL Rahul back as opener, Shubman Gill might have to come in at No. 3 - timesofindia.indiatimes.com - Zimbabwe - Uae - India - Harare

India vs Zimbabwe: With KL Rahul back as opener, Shubman Gill might have to come in at No. 3

With the T20 World Cup being paramount and Gill not exactly in the scheme of things as far as shortest format is concerned, he might be handed a number 3 slot in order to ensure that his captain gets enough game-time before the continental championship in the UAE, starting August 27. This provided all three are fit and available for all the games in the series. While there will be no Rahul Dravid heading the team of support staff for the short three-match series, starting August 18 in Harare, NCA head VVS Laxman is almost certain to follow the blue-print set by the head coach.

Juventus need to work hard and stay humble in title quest, says Allegri

Massimiliano Allegri said on Sunday. Allegri took charge of the Turin-based club for the second time last year and is looking to improve on last season's result, their second fourth-placed finish in a row after winning nine consecutive titles. Juve's pre-season form, with a 2-0 win over Guadalajara and a 2-2 draw with Barcelona followed by a 2-0 defeat by Real Madrid and a shocking 4-0 loss to Atletico Madrid, has cast doubts over their ability to return to the summit of Italian football.

AIFF Electoral list: Legends of '70s and '80s set to 'return' on different turf

Their prudence will decide the course that Indian football system charts, after more than a decade long 'One-Man show' at the helm of affairs, which has done more harm than good for the game in the country. These two and 34 other prominent internationals of their times are now part of an exclusive voter's list to elect the next governing body of All India Football Federation (AIFF) with an imminent FIFA ban looming large.

'Rock bottom': Former players tear into Man United after Brentford defeat

Manchester United came in for heavy criticism from former players after they crashed to a chastening 4-0 defeat by Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday, their second loss in as many league games under new boss Erik ten Hag. The result left United bottom of the table as Dutchman Ten Hag became the first manager since John Chapman in 1921 to lose his opening two games in charge of the club. BBC pundit Chris Sutton said United had "hit rock bottom" while his former strike partner Alan Shearer put down the debacle to years of mismanagement at Old Trafford.

'Don't pay too much attention': Sunil Chhetri tells players on FIFA ban threat

Earlier this month, world football governing body FIFA had threatened to suspend the AIFF and strip off its right to host the women's U-17 World Cup in October due to a third party "influence", the warning coming just days after the Supreme Court's directive to hold elections of the national federation. The SC-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) has since, though, started the electoral process. The elections are slated for August 28.

Broadcasters formally write to ICC, say tender for media rights doesn't 'encourage' them to bid - timesofindia.indiatimes.com - India

Broadcasters formally write to ICC, say tender for media rights doesn't 'encourage' them to bid

cricket broadcasters - Disney, Viacom18, Sony and Zee - who participated in the e-auction for media rights of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have written to the International Cricket Council (ICC), letting the governing body of the game know that the current tender document does not encourage them to submit a bid. All four broadcasters have the same reasons for writing to the ICC - absolute lack of clarity on the process - and have indicated (not verbatim) that they may not turn up at the bidding table. Ugliness, along with some potential for future litigation and quite a bit of antagonism enveloped the air this week after the ICC sent out a huge list of clarifications to the broadcasters, answering their questions in detail, but not making any major changes to the tender process.
