India vs Pakistan: Impossible to play both Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik at the same time in Asia Cup, says Cheteshwar Pujara

Cheteshwar Pujara feels it's "impossible" to include both Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik in the playing XI during the Asia Cup T20 tournament, given the team's settled top order. The top order comprises KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav, who Pujara describes as one of India's top T20 batters currently. They are followed by the likes of Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja, leaving space for only one player among Pant and Karthik. "It's a big headache for the team management as both (Pant and Karthik) are doing really well in T20 format. The call is whether you want someone to bat at No.5 or you want a finisher who can bat at No. 6 or 7," Pujara said on 'ESPNcricinfo T20 Time:out'.

Sloppy fielding allowed Zimbabwe's fragile top-order to make a promising start, easing to 61-1 by the first drinks break with Innocent Kaia caught and bowled for 17 by Mitchell Marsh.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said what the team needs to achieve as a group is more important than the opposition. "First game on (August) 28th. We will try to be in the present. Preparation-wise, we will not be short. We are not looking at the opposition at all. What we need to achieve as a group is more important than the opposition. We have to think of this as just another opposition who we want to beat and do well against. It is going to be challenging no doubt. We will have to be up for it," said Rohit in a video posted by BCCI, which also featured other members of Team India in it. Virat Kohli also said that as a player, it is like any other game for him.

It's sad talented youngsters of India & Pakistan are not getting to play bilaterals: Asif Iqbal

Tragic that people on both sides are being denied the joy of watching these top cricketers play on their soil, writes former Pakistan captain Asif IqbalI still recall the time when cricket between India and Pakistan stalled for almost two decades due to non-cricketing reasons, finally resuming with a three-Test series in 1978. I remember a lot of us Pakistani players were playing in the Kerry Packer 'rebel' series at that time, due to which those players had been banned from playing for Pakistan. However, once it was announced that India were coming to Pakistan, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) changed its mind about those players.
