T20 World Cup: Deepak Chahar sustains twisted ankle; Mukesh Choudhary, Chetan Sakariya join squad as net bowlers

Deepak Chahar is likely to miss the remaining two games due to a twisted ankle sustained during a training session before the first match against South Africa in Lucknow. Chahar wasn't a part of the Indian playing XI as Shikhar Dhawan's side lost by nine runs in the opening match with the visitors scoring 250 in just 40 overs. "Deepak has sustained a twisted ankle but it's not too serious. However a few days of rest might be advisable," a source privy to selection issues, told PTI on conditions of anonymity. "So it will be team management's call if they would like to risk Deepak as he is in T20 World Cup stand-by list. In any case, if there is requirement there, it would be a priority." As of now, Jasprit Bumrah's replacement in the T20 World Cup squad is Mohammed Shami, who is slowly and surely getting match-fit and is expected to fly to Australia within the next three to four days.

Ban Erling Haaland for being too good? Good joke, says Guardiola

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola smiled on Friday at jokey petitions calling for striker Erling Haaland to be banned for being too good and said the Norwegian had a natural goalscoring instinct that was impossible to teach. Haaland has scored 14 of City's 29 Premier League goals so far this season with hat-tricks in his last three home matches. "What can I teach, be here or there one metre?" Guardiola told reporters ahead of a home match against Southampton on Saturday that could send City top.

Wanted to see how youngsters react under pressure: Coach Ramesh Powar defends batting-order reshuffle

Ramesh Powar is hardly perturbed by the 13-run defeat against Pakistan in the Asia Cup as the team management's primary aim was to test the temperament of the younger lot in a pressure situation. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur returned against Pakistan but only to bat at No. 7 as India's new-look middle order faltered in its chase of a modest 138 and suffered a 13-run loss against their arch-rivals here on Friday.

Philippine court dismisses tax case against Manny Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao on Friday won a years-long court battle to avoid paying tens of millions of dollars in extra taxes after an appeals court dismissed the case against him. Pacquiao and his wife Jinkee had been accused by the Bureau of Internal Revenue in 2012 of owing more than 2.2 billion pesos ($37 million) in unpaid taxes for 2008 and 2009. The 43-year-old previously insisted he had paid the taxes in the United States, so did not need to do so in the Philippines because the two countries have an agreement allowing their citizens to avoid double taxation.
