Setback For Ex-IPL Chairman On Demand Of Rs 10.65 Crore Penalty From BCCI

The Bombay High Court has imposed a cost of Rs 1 lakh on former cricket administrator Lalit Modi and dismissed his petition seeking an order to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to pay penalty of Rs 10.65 crore imposed on him by the ED for violating Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). A division bench of Justices M S Sonak and Jitendra Jain, in its order of Thursday, said the petition was "frivolous and wholly misconceived" as the adjudication authority under the FEMA has imposed the penalty on Modi.

Football In 2024: A Call Back To The Pre-Lionel Messi And Cristiano Ronaldo Age

2024 is perhaps the first year of football in a long time where it's hard to pick out one singular standout moment of the year. 2023 saw Manchester City lift the treble, 2022 was Lionel Messi's ascent to immortality, 2021 was Italy's Euro triumph, and before that, we did not have to look past Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to find a standout. But in 2024 - for the first time in years - the standout thing was that there wasn't a standout moment.

Ruben Dias Ruled Out For Up To Four Weeks As Manchester City Suffer Fresh Blow

Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has been ruled out for up to four weeks with a muscular issue, compounding Pep Guardiola's problems as he seeks to save the club's season. The Portugal international missed all five matches in November with a calf problem but returned at the start of December and has been an ever-present this month. But he will not be available for City's trip to Aston Villa on Saturday, while there is uncertainty about the fitness of goalkeeper Ederson.

Rinku Singh will start his captaincy stint by leading Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, India's 50-over domestic competition, which will begin on December 21, ESPN Cricinfo reported. He has taken over captaincy from seasoned pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who led the side in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Under Bhuvneshwar's captaincy, UP suffered a loss against Delhi in the quarter-finals. It will be Rinku's first stint of leading a state team at the senior level. Pakistan Script Massive Record, Become 1st Team In 21st Century To...

Pakistan veterans Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan laid the foundation for a convincing, series-clinching 81-run win over South Africa in the second one-day international at Newlands on Thursday. R Ashwin Chooses His Successor, Passes The Baton On Social Media After Retirement

Amidst all the tributes pouring in for Ravichandran Ashwin following his retirement from international cricket, he wished fellow off-spin all-rounder Washington Sundar in a way which seemed like a passing of the baton moment in Indian cricket. On Wednesday, shortly after Ashwin announced his retirement post the third Test at the Gabba ending in a draw, Sundar penned a heartfelt tribute on his social media accounts. “More than just a team mate, you have been an inspiration, Ash anna. It's been an honour to share the field and dressing room with you.”

Manu Bhaker's Olympic Success Becomes Defining Moment For Indian Shooting In 2024

If ever there was proof needed that Manu Bhaker had prodigious talent, she provided it at the Paris Olympics with two bronze medals, scripting history in a year when shooting was as much about success as it was about missing medals by wafer-thin margins. Shooting is about individual glory and Manu took it to a different level by first finishing on the podium in 10m air pistol and then combining with an equally happy-go-lucky marksman Sarabjot Singh to clinch a second bronze in 10m mixed team to become India's first woman athlete with two medals in the quadrennial showpiece.
