Organisers Take Huge Decision As Fans Line Up To Watch Virat Kohli's Ranji Trophy Return

Virat Kohli confirmed to play a Ranji Trophy match after 12 years as Delhi won the toss and elected to bowl first against Railways in their Elite Group D match of the ongoing season at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday. Kohli's last Ranji Trophy game for Delhi came against Uttar Pradesh in Ghaziabad in November 2012. But following the BCCI's policy for Indian players to play domestic cricket when possible, Kohli turn out for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy. His return comes at a time when Delhi, at sixth place with 14 points, have a very slim mathematical chance to enter the Ranji Trophy knockouts. They need an outright win over fourth-ranked Railways, but that may not be enough to enter the knockouts.

"Impossible" To Complete Champions Trophy Stadiums' Renovation Before Deadline: Report

The state of cricket stadiums in Pakistan has sent shockwaves across the global cricketing spectrum, with the slow renovation progress leaving all the stakeholders worried. While India are supposed to play their Champions Trophy fixtures in Dubai, all the other international teams are supposed to set their base in Pakistan. The latest images from the renovation work at the stadium don't paint a particularly rosy picture. Reports from Pakistan have now claimed that it is 'impossible' for authorities to complete the construction work at the stadiums within the deadline.

Manchester City Squeeze Into UEFA Champions League Knockouts, To Face Real Madrid Or Bayern Munich

Pep Guardiola said he cannot see Manchester City winning the Champions League on current form, but believes his side will be better when they face the might of either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich next month. City needed a second-half fightback from 1-0 down to beat Club Brugge 3-1 on Wednesday to avoid crashing out before the knockout stages for the first time since 2012. Their reward could be just a stay of execution against either the defending champions or Guardiola's former club Bayern.

Virat Kohli's Batting Spot On Ranji Trophy Return Confirmed. Delhi Captain Makes 'Sacrifice'

There's been a different flavour to the atmosphere around the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi ever since Virat Kohli's participation for Delhi in their Ranji Trophy match against Railways, starting on Thursday, was confirmed. The talismanic Kohli last played in the Ranji Trophy against Uttar Pradesh in Ghaziabad in November 2012. Now with him set for a homecoming in the prestigious red-ball domestic competition from Thursday, the mood has been understandably a mix of excitement and anticipation. “We just want to end playing this upcoming match on a good note. We are not thinking about the points table (scenario) as anything can happen. But we are going for an outright result. Everyone is very motivated and excited after Virat's arrival.

Manchester City, PSG Stay Alive In Champions League As Arsenal Reach Last 16

Manchester City came from behind against Club Brugge to reach the Champions League knockout phase, where they were safely joined by Paris Saint-Germain as Arsenal qualified directly for the last 16 on Wednesday in the final round of league-phase matches. Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Lille and Aston Villa also followed Liverpool and Barcelona in securing top-eight finishes to skip the new play-off round. On a dramatic night in which only two of the closing 18 games were dead rubbers, Man City got the win they needed to avoid an embarrassing exit with a nervy 3-1 victory over Club Brugge. Reigning Premier League champions City will face either holders Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in a blockbuster play-off tie next month. "In the second half we lifted our soul and our hearts were free," City manager Pep Guardiola told TNT Sports.

Batter Gets Run Out In Bizarre Way, Fans Call It 'Unluckiest Dismissal' Of 2025. Watch

Cricket has its fair share of bizarre ways of getting out. Be it being timed out for entering the field too late or being run out at the non-striker's end for backing up too far, controversy is never far in cricket. However, a strange run out that took place in a game between England U19 and South Africa U19 probably takes the cake for the most bizarre dismissal of 2025 so far. The dismissal saw England batter Aaryan Sawant dismissed, as the ball ricocheted off a fielder at forward short-leg.
