Delhi Capitals Sent Top Captaincy Name For IPL 2025 Season. It's Not KL Rahul

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has identified three potential candidates for the Delhi Capitals captaincy role - Axar Patel, KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis - in the IPL 2025. He believes Axar could be the frontrunner given his recent rise in stature within Indian cricket. Delhi retained Axar for Rs 16.50 crore ahead of the mega auction last year, reflecting their faith in his abilities. They later secured KL Rahul for Rs 14 crore and Faf du Plessis for Rs 2 crore at the auction in Jeddah. Axar had a productive IPL 2024 season, picking up 11 wickets at an economy rate of 7.65 while also contributing 235 runs at a strike rate of 131.28 in 12 innings.

Atletico Madrid Fail To Take Advantage, Held To Frustrating Draw By Celta Vigo

Atletico Madrid blew the chance to claim the lead in La Liga with a 1-1 home draw against Celta Vigo on Saturday, but played most of the game with 10 men after Pablo Barrios' seventh-minute red card. After champions and leaders Real Madrid drew 1-1 at Osasuna earlier on, Diego Simeone's side were aiming to capitalise at their Metropolitano stadium. However Barrios' early sending-off set Atletico back and Iago Aspas fired Celta ahead in the second half from the penalty spot. Atletico target man Alexander Sorloth rescued a point for the Rojiblancos with a fine strike in the 81st minute, keeping them a point behind Los Blancos.

The result, just the fifth time Bayern have dropped points in 22 league games this season, keeps them firmly on track to win back the title from Leverkusen with 12 games remaining. Calling the draw "lucky", Bayern captain Manuel Neuer said "we're satisfied with the result, let's say it like that." Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso insisted the "season is not over yet".

Arsenal Close Gap On Leaders Liverpool, Omar Marmoush Treble Lifts Manchester City

Arsenal ignored their injury woes to close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool as Mikel Merino inspired a 2-0 win against Leicester, while Omar Marmoush's hat-trick fired Manchester City's 4-0 rout of top four rivals Newcastle on Saturday. Mikel Arteta's side were in danger of wasting a chance to put pressure on Liverpool in the title race as they laboured to make the breakthrough at the King Power Stadium.
