Pathum Nissanka Ton Helps Sri Lanka Level Bangladesh Series

Opener Pathum Nissanka struck 114 off 113 balls to steer Sri Lanka to a three-wicket victory over Bangladesh and level their three-match ODI series in Chittagong on Friday. Sri Lanka were teetering on 43-3 before Nissanka finally found a worthy partner in Charith Asalanka, who scored 91.  The pair put on 185 in their fourth-wicket partnership to guide the tourists to 287-7 in the 48th over, after Wanindu Hasaranga's 4-45 helped restrict Bangladesh. Their stand was broken soon after Nissanka hit his sixth ODI century, when Mehidy Hasan forced him to hoist a catch to Liton Das at deep-midwicket.  Asalanka departed the next over when he nicked through to the 'keeper from Taskin Ahmed. Dunith Wellalage and Hasaranga kept their composure to put on 34 runs for the seventh wicket and edge Sri Lanka closer.

Manchester City's Treble Bid Hit By Kevin De Bruyne Injury Blow

Pep Guardiola has revealed Kevin De Bruyne will miss Manchester City's FA Cup quarter-final against Newcastle as the Belgium midfielder battles to return from injury for the final weeks of his side's treble chase. De Bruyne has been left out of Belgium's squad for their forthcoming friendlies against the Republic of Ireland and England because of a groin strain. Belgium coach Domenico Tedesco claimed De Bruyne has been struggling with the problem for the "last few matches". City boss Guardiola said the 32-year-old felt the injury before he was substituted in the second half of last weekend's 1-1 draw at Liverpool in the Premier League. De Bruyne had already missed a large chunk of the season after aggravating a hamstring injury in City's league opener at Burnley in August.

Rishabh Pant "Hitting The Ball As Good As Ever": Delhi Capitals Head Coach Ricky Ponting

Rishabh Pant seems to be hitting the ball as well as he has ever been known to, something that is lifting the spirits of his Delhi Capitals team-mates, head coach Ricky Ponting said after his first session ahead of upcoming IPL, starting next Friday. Pant, who had been out for 14 months following a horrific car crash near his hometown Rourkee in December 2022, has been cleared by the BCCI to play both as a batter and wicket-keeper. "We missed him (Pant) incredibly last year. The whole tournament missed him. Rishabh brings so much energy to the team. He's got that smile on his face, he's hitting the ball as good as ever and he tends to lift all of his teammates around him," Ponting was quoted as saying in a press release.

Manchester United's Rasmus Hojlund Could Return For FA Cup Clash Against Liverpool

Erik ten Hag expects to be boosted by the return of Rasmus Hojlund, Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka for Manchester United's FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool. Injury-hit United have endured a poor season and need to overcome Jurgen Klopp's side at Old Trafford on Sunday to keep their hopes of silverware alive. United enter the showdown with their bitter rivals as underdogs, but right-back Wan-Bissaka should return after two months out, with England defender Maguire and Denmark striker Hojlund also set to feature. "We had a good week. Today we had a session and they were all training," Ten Hag said at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

"Don't Think It's Going To Be The Last T20 World Cup For Virat Kohli": Ex-India Star's Huge Prediction

A rejuvenated Virat Kohli will be in a good mental frame after returning from a break and will look to capitalise on it during the IPL, said former Indian cricketer Subramanium Badrinath on Friday. Kohli, the only player in history of IPL to play 16 seasons for one franchise -- Royal Challengers Bangalore, is all set to return to action during the IPL after a paternity break that ruled him out of the marquee five-Test series against England. "He will be fresh (both) physically and mentally. God bless him that he has become the father to his second kid, so he will be back in a very good mental frame and will look to capitalise on it," Badrinath told PTI during a Star Sports Tamil IPL event.

Pakistan To Host ODI Tri-Series After 20 Years Ahead Of Champions Trophy 2025

Pakistan's Cricket Board said on Friday it will host South Africa and New Zealand in a one-day international tri-series, the country's first tournament involving three nations after a gap of 20 years. The series was greenlit on the sidelines of an International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting in Dubai, according to Pakistan's board. International cricket only fully returned to Pakistan in 2020, following attacks on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore in 2009.  Pakistan was stripped of its right to co-host the World Cup two years later, with security concerns lingering in the aftermath of those attacks.

Carlos Alcaraz Stung On Forehead As Bee Invasion Hits Tennis Match - Video Goes Viral

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz fought off swarming bees and Alexander Zverev on Thursday to set up a semi-final clash with Jannik Sinner at Indian Wells. World number two Alcaraz was stung on the forehead and temporarily forced from the court as a "bee invasion" halted his quarter-final against Germany's Zverev with just two games completed. He looked none the worse for wear when play resumed after a delay of almost two hours, polishing off a 6-3, 6-1 victory and avenging a quarter-final loss to Zverev at the Australian Open. Sinner powered into the semi-finals with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Czech Jiri Lehecka pushing his match win streak to 19. Sinner's run stretches back through last year's Davis Cup finals and includes a perfect 16-0 record in 2024.
