Gautam Gambhir Set To Replace Rahul Dravid As India Head Coach: Report

The wait for Indian cricket to find out who the Rahul Dravid's successor as the men's team's head coach would be, is likely to end soon, with Gautam Gambhir reportedly all set to take up the responsibility. Gambhir's name has been doing rounds in the Indian cricketing spectrum, with his impressive stint as mentor for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 franchise seeing his stocks rise. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also seemed to be interested in a host of big Australian names, as well as other IPL coaches like Stephen Fleming and Andy Flower, for the role of head coach of the Indian team, but it's Gambhir who seems to be ahead of the rest.

Video: Tearful Cristiano Ronaldo Hard To Console As Al-Nassr Lose King's Cup Final To Al Hilal

Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo was shattered to the core as his Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr lost the King's Cup final to rivals Al-Hilal on Friday. The closely-fought tie saw Ronaldo hitting the post with a beautiful bicycle kick, as the match headed into penalties after the normal time score remained 1-1. No winner could be decided in the extra-time, prompting penalties to be taken where Al-Hilal emerged triumphant 5-4, leaving Ronaldo tearful and inconsolable. While other players might see the Saudi Arabia experience as a 'retirement league or competition', Ronaldo's emotions proved that, for him, it was much more than that.

"Trusting Seniors Hasn't Worked...": Ex-India Star Drops 'Rohit Sharma-Virat Kohli' Bombshell

Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar says he would have picked a much younger Indian squad for the T20 World Cup since loading the side with seniors has not worked in the past. Manjrekar said now India have no other choice but to pair Rohit Sharma with Virat Kohli for opening slot when he would have preferred to add the flavour of young and talented Yashaswi Jaiswal. Rohit and Kohli did not feature in much of the T20 assignments for India last year but returned to the fold as selectors showed faith in the seasoned campaigners.

India Parts Ways With International Boxing Association, Joins World Boxing

The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) on Friday parted ways with the suspended IBA and joined the breakaway World Boxing in a bid to counter the threat to the sport's Olympic future. The move comes months after the International Olympic Committee reiterated its threat to leave boxing out of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics if national federations continued to align themselves with the International Boxing Association (IBA). "It is absolutely vital to the stainability of boxing that it retains its Olympics status, so we are delighted to join World Boxing," BFI president Ajay Singh said in a press release.
