On Tuesday, multiple inspections were held throughout the day before play was finally called off around 3:04 pm. Like Day 1, there was no rain on the second day of the Test, but the city witnessed some overnight downpours. Many electrical fans were brought in and kept face-down to dry the wet patch of the outfield. But the umpires felt the surface was not safe enough to play.

All-rounder Rinku Singh received the nod from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the second round matches of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024. Rinku comes in as a replacement player in the India B squad after the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant had to withdraw following their selection for the senior men's Test series against Bangladesh. The second round matches in the Duleep Trophy starting from 12th September. The BCCI also revealed in a release that India A Captain Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Kuldeep Yadav and Akash Deep have been named in India's Test squad for the series against Bangladesh and will not feature in the upcoming round.

A British Indian schoolgirl who recently turned 16 has made history as one of the youngest to cross the notoriously choppy English Channel to raise funds for a charity fighting against childhood hunger across India and the UK. Prisha Tapre, a pupil at Bushey Meads School in north London, was motivated by a family discussion about the English Channel to take on the challenge when she was just 12. After four years of training, she went on to complete the 34-kilometre swim from the coast of Dover in England to Cap Gris Nez in France last week in 11 hours and 48 minutes. “It was quite choppy at the start, but when the sun started to rise, I knew that the worst bit was done with,” said Tapre, reliving her mission in an interview from her home at Watford in Hertfordshire.

Formula One design guru Adrian Newey will join Aston Martin from Red Bull, the British-based team confirmed on Tuesday. The widely expected appointment of the 65-year-old Briton was announced at Aston Martin's Silverstone base by team owner Lawrence Stroll. Newey, who will start his new job in March 2025, joins as managing technical partner and will also become a shareholder. One such army recruit was Harry Lee – a Middlesex cricketer who joined the 13th Battalion, part of the London regiment, and fought in the Battle of Aubers Ridge began on May 9. He was presumed dead in the battle and his parents even held his memorial. However, 15 years later after his ‘death', Lee went on to play his first Test for England when he took the field against South Africa at Johannesburg on February 13, 1931.

Since his return earlier this year following the accident, Pant has played T20s and ODIs and has done well.
