For Everybody, PM Means Prime Minister, For Us 'Param Mitra': Yogesh Kathuniya To Narendra Modi

Two-time Paralympic silver medallist discus thrower Yogesh Kathuniya gave Prime Minister Narendra Modi a new title, calling him "Param Mitra" during their interaction at PM's residence. Kathuniya, who won the silver medal in the F56 category at the World Para-Athletics Championships in May, recorded the season's best throw of 42.22m to take the silver medal in the Men's Discus Throw - F56 event at the recently concluded Paris Paralympics. The Prime Minister met India's Paralympians at his residence on Thursday to congratulate them for their record-smashing haul of 29 medals at the Paris Paralympic Games and asked para-athletes to share their Paralympic experiences.

"Delhi Ki Hawa Pani Mein...": Navdeep Singh On Celebration Outburst At Paris Paralympics 2024

Paralympian Navdeep Singh reflected on his emotional outburst that came during the men's javelin F41 final at the 2024 Paralympic Games, where he ultimately secured the gold medal. Navdeep Singh was captured on camera displaying raw frustration and using strong language after a throw, which initially secured him a silver medal but was converted to gold after Sadegh Beit Sayah of Iran got disqualified over the display of a controversial flag. The 'improper conduct' from the Iranian athlete saw India's Navdeep Singh's silver medal being upgraded to gold, giving the country its 7th yellow metal at the Paris Para Games.

"Don't See Any Chances": Ex-India Star's Big Take On Shreyas Iyer's Test Comeback

Shreyas Iyer is unlikely to make his comeback to the Indian Test side in the near future, feels former opener Aakash Chopra. Iyer, who last played a Test for India during the series against England at home, did not find a place in the squad for the first Test of the upcoming two-match rubber against Bangladesh. The 29-year-old also lost his central contract earlier this year after reportedly refusing to play domestic cricket, citing injury concerns. Last month, Iyer was recalled to the ODI side by new India coach Gautam Gambhir, but the player had a disappointing outing as Sri Lanka won a famous series.

Title-Chasing Norris And McLaren 'A Long Way' Off The Pace In Azerbaijan GP

Championship-chasing Lando Norris conceded he and McLaren were well off the pace on Friday after he struggled to 17th place with team-mate Oscar Piastri fifth in second free practice at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Both drivers were left well adrift of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc who outpaced Red Bull's Sergio Perez to set the fastest time, prompting title-challenger Norris to admit he and his team faced much overnight homework to find a solution. "We're quite a long way off," he said, drawing only slight consolation from seeing Max Verstappen, Red Bull's three-time champion and series leader, wind up sixth behind Piastri.  "I'm having to push way too much to try and get a lap time. Where Oscar is, that is kind of more where I think we are. So, I think if we nail it, we're just about there, but I'm sure they're not even close nailing it yet.

Charles Leclerc Bounces Back From Crash To Top Practice Times For Azerbaijan GP

Charles Leclerc recovered from a crash early in the day to top the times for Ferrari ahead of Red Bull's Sergio Perez in Friday's second free practice on a day of incidents and accidents at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Leclerc, who has taken pole three times before on the tricky Baku street circuit, had gone off early in opening practice, hitting the barriers at Turn 15 and his car incurring damage to the front right section.  He was unhurt and the Ferrari mechanics fixed the damage although he needed to pit early in second practice to fit a new power steering system. This produced the odd sight of the Ferrari team forming a wall of bodies – like a team defending a football free-kick – to block vision of Leclerc's car as it was repaired.

Ex-KKR Star Celebrates On Crutches After Somerset's Dramatic County Win vs Surrey

Archie Vaughan, son of former England captain Michael Vaughan, and fellow spinner Jack Leach took a combined 10 wickets in the second innings as visitors Surrey, set a target of 221, were bowled out for 109 with just minutes to spare on the final day of the match. While Archie finished with a superb match haul of 11 wickets, Leach took the final wicket of the match, dismissing Dan Worrall to spark wild celebrations among team-mates and supporters.

Mumbai City FC Make Dramatic Comeback To Draw Mohun Bagan 2-2 In Indian Super League Opener

Mohun Bagan's defensive frailties haunted them once again within a fortnight, as they squandered a two-goal lead to play out a 2-2 draw with Mumbai City FC in the Indian Super League opening match in Kolkata on Friday. One of the longest serving foreigners of the league, Mumbai City's Tiri gave his former side Mohun Bagan an early lead with an own goal in the ninth minute before scoring for his current team's first goal of the day in the 70th minute. Alberto Rodriguez, making his ISL debut for Mohun Bagan, had given the Mariners a two-goal advantage with a 28th minute strike.
