The City of Jos, Plateau State, will now host the 2023 Nigeria National League’s (NNL) Yearly Assembly, the body has disclosed. The NNL meeting was earlier fixed for September 7, 2023, in Abuja, but had to be postponed for logistics reasons. “Nigeria National League can confirm that Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has graciously approved that the state will host the 14th edition of the AGA on Friday, September 29, 2023. “The 40 NNL teams to compete in the new 2023/2024 season are expected to arrive in the Tin – City of Jos on September 28, 2023 with only their presidents or one representative. “Club representatives are expected to depart Jos on Saturday 30 at the end of deliberations of the AGA,” NNL said in a statement. It said the kick-off date for the NNL new season, the format of the league, and other matters would be finalised at the meeting.
The 2023 edition of the Government College, Ughelli (GCU) Relays, will be held on November 18 instead of its regular first week. This is in deference to the national off–cycle elections in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa states.

Super Eagles Head Coach, Jose Peseiro, believes that Victor Osimhen can win the Ballon d’Or in the future. Osimhen is among the 30 players nominated for the 2023 men’s Ballon d’Or. While it would be difficult for the 24-year-old to win the prestigious award this year, going by the calibre of players on the list, Peseiro is optimistic that he will emerge tops in the future. “He (Osimhen) can surely win the Ballon d’Or in the future. He’s not lacking anything to do it,” Peseiro said in an interview with Italian publication II Mattino. “He has different characteristics than other players that are at the top at this moment, but he scores a lot as well.” The forward has also been nominated for the FIFA Best Men’s award.
