Alvaro Bautista nearly took his second win of the weekend at Estoril on Sunday afternoon but a determined push into the final chicane on the last lap allowed Jonathan Rea to muscle and massage his Kawasaki inside Bautista’s Ducati, and hold on for a narrow but emphatic win.
The ups and downs of motorcycle racing were clearly demonstrated to Glenn Irwin at the weekend as the Honda Racing rider went from the euphoria of success at the North West 200 to scoring just 11 points at round three of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Donington Park.
