Sources: UCLA QB Joey Aguilar plans to transfer to Tennessee - ESPN
Quarterback Joey Aguilar plans to transfer to Tennessee after transferring to UCLA from Appalachian State in the winter portion of the transfer portal, sources told ESPN on Monday.
Aguilar will trade places with Nico Iamaleava, who transferred from Tennessee to UCLA on Sunday, ending a whirlwind week that began with a headline-grabbing break-up with the Volunteers.
On Dec. 28 of last year, Aguilar announced his commitment to UCLA, bringing the native of Antioch, California, back to his home state, if only for a short time.
«Playing back at home is going to be amazing,» Aguilar told ESPN's Pete Thamel at the time. «Especially for my family, lot closer commute and more of them can come.»
Aguilar threw for 6,760 yards and 56 touchdowns in his past two years with the Mountaineers. He previously spent two seasons at Diablo Valley Community College in Northern California.
The senior entered after Appalachian State fired coach Shawn Clark following a disappointing 5-6 season.
