Sources: Newcastle now looking at £37.8m-rated striker; real possibility 25 y/o favourite leaves

Newcastle United will be one of the most exciting teams to watch out for in the Premier League this summer, with the club’s transfer budget supercharged by the PIF takeover. Dean Jones provides GIVEMESPORT with an exclusive must-read guide to the Magpies’ summer transfer window.

They want to improve the spine of the team in order to challenge the top eight teams in the league. There has been big improvement since January yet the goalkeeper, central defence, midfield and forwards all need to be upgraded further to do it.

The only area that seems fine is at full-back, where Kieran Trippier has quality and loan man Matt Targett has shown he will be worth keeping.

Goalkeeper wise they like Dean Henderson but they also went for Arsenal’s Bernd Leno in January so may yet revisit that if things don’t look good with the Man United man.

They have been linked after a host of players in central defence but don’t be surprised if they stick to British with a former Eddie Howe player in their sights in the shape of Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth. Other links include Sven Botman and James Tarkowski.

In midfield, Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips looks to make all the sense in the world and would be a mouth-watering addition alongside big January signing Bruno. Transfermarkt value the England international at £45m.

They also like Jesse Lingard and hope he will reassess his pay demands.

Despite having Chris Wood and Callum Wilson, a new forward looks likely and they are looking at a number of targets including £37.8m-rated Dominic Calvert-Lewin and French prospect Hugo Ekitike. At least one new front-man will come in.
