‘Something big’ - Tom Aspinall reveals Dana White hint on Jon Jones UFC super fight

Tom Aspinall believes UFC chiefs Dana White and Hunter Campbell are ready to go all out to secure a fight between himself and heavyweight champion Jon Jones after his appearance at UFC 309.

Jones, 37, made his long-awaited return to the octagon at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night and stopped Stipe Miocic in the third round to make the first defence of his heavyweight title.

In the build-up to the bout, though, the American hinted that this - his 24th fight in the promotion since debuting in 2008 - could be his last as he continued to dismiss the idea of a unification bout with interim heavyweight champion Aspinall.

However, Greater Manchester-born Aspinall, who was cage-side at MSG on Saturday as the backup fighter, believes the actions of White and Campbell when Jones announced his intention to continue his career in the UFC after beating Miocicsuggests they have "something big in the pipeline".

Speaking to ESPN, Aspinall, 31, said: "Well, when Jon Jones was doing his speech, I was looking directly at the UFC brass, Dana and Hunter, and both of them turned to me at the same time and pointed at me and winked. To me, that says there is something big in the pipeline.

"As I just said a moment ago, this is the biggest fight in UFC heavyweight history. Massive. Potentially one of the biggest fights in MMA right now and if that doesn't interest Jon Jones, I don't know what else we can do, do you know what I mean?
