'Someone fly-tipped an entire Christmas tree!' - The disgusting mess in 'the worst alleway in Manchester'

Gorton residents have been in uproar after the surge in the amount of rubbish being fly-tipped in alleyways behind people's homes.

The area has had many issues in the past regarding fly-tipping and things looked to have improved however, residents reported a surge after Christmas and New Year.

Objects such as Christmas decorations, a Christmas tree, present wrappings and a variety of fireworks were among the things found littered across one back alley.

In 2022, an alleyway in Gorton was backlogged so much during Christmas and New Year that it was dubbed 'The worst alleyway in Manchester.'

Samantha Cross, a retail worker from the area said: "It's crazy when you see the difference in mess. I wish I took a before and after picture to show the mess difference but I didn't think it was gonna happen.

"If I am honest I should have probably known better as there was an increase in mess last year but it was sorted out pretty quickly, but the things that have been thrown out this year are stupid.

"Why would you throw a whole Christmas tree out? And if you chuck it out, why not doing it in an appropriate manner? It's really starting to p*** me off.

"Garbage like this attracts rats and that is disgusting in itself. I had a rat issue around two years ago because of fly-tipping and I'd rather not go through that again."

The issues have become persistent, with posts on social media showing different areas of Gorton being littered with rubbish.
